TTB NEWSLETTER | Weekly News

June 27, 2014

IN THIS ISSUE

Greetings! We hope you had a safe and sound week! This week's top stories include information about a proposal for a new American Viticultural Area, our TTB Online current processing times charts, and our GovDelivery email subscription service, plus a list of the past week's top wine pages at TTB.gov.

NOTICE NO. 144, PROPOSED ESTABLISHMENT OF THE FOUNTAINGROVE DISTRICT VITICULTURAL AREA

We will publish a notice of proposed rulemaking in the Federal Register on Monday, June 30, 2014, proposing to establish the approximately 38,000-acre "Fountaingrove District" American viticultural area in Sonoma County, California. The proposed viticultural area lies entirely within the existing multicounty North Coast viticultural area.

We are making this proposal in response to a petition filed on behalf of the Fountaingrove Appellation Committee, a group of local vintners and grape growers. We designate viticultural areas to allow vintners to better describe the origin of their wines and to allow consumers to better identify wines they may purchase.

Comments on this proposal must be received on or before August 29, 2014.

You may submit comments on this proposal and view copies of the proposed rule, selected supporting materials, and any comments we receive about this proposal at the Regulations.gov website within Docket No. TTB-2014-0006. A link to that docket will be posted under Notice No. 144 on our Wine-Notices of Proposed Rulemaking page at TTB.gov
Alternatively, written comments may be submitted to one of these addresses:

  • U.S. mail: Director, Regulations and Rulings Division, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, 1310 G Street NW, Box 12, Washington, DC 20005.
  • Hand delivery/courier in lieu of mail: Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, 1310 G Street, NW, Suite 200-E, Washington, DC 20005.
