Use of "Gluten-Free" on TTB-Regulated Alcohol Beverages

We are currently reviewing our policy on gluten content statements in the labeling and advertising of wines, distilled spirits, and malt beverages in light of the recent U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) final rule on the use of the term "gluten-free" for products under FDA’s labeling jurisdiction.

This announcement reminds industry members that TTB Ruling 2012-2, Interim Policy on Gluten Content Statements in the Labeling and Advertising of Wines, Distilled Spirits, and Malt Beverages, is still in force for alcohol beverage products that are subject to TTB’s labeling regulations under the Federal Alcohol Administration Act.

“Eagle Peak Mendocino County” Viticultural Area Comment Period Reopened

At the request of an interested party, TTB has reopened the comment period for Notice No. 135, which proposes the establishment of the "Eagle Peak Mendocino County" viticultural area and the realignment of the existing Mendocino and Redwood Valley viticultural areas in northern California.  Comments on this this proposal are now due on or before October 28, 2013.  To submit a comment electronically, use the Regulations.gov comment form for Notice No. 135.  To submit comments by postal mail or hand delivery, see the instructions in Notice 135.  To view all comments and documents related to this proposal, go to Docket No. TTB-2013-0004 on the Regulations.gov website.
